Syda (pronounced “Syd-uh.”). 

My art-filled journey:

I discovered art journaling in 2010 and made my first page on my 45th birthday. I had no idea what I was doing, and to be quite honest, most days, I still have no idea what I am doing.

My artful journey has taken a lot of left turns. Mistaeks were mandatory. They still are.

Life is messy. Art heals. Add color + stir.

I Am a Fickle Girl

Previous iterations of myself have been found around the inter webs as Kreative Notions, The Motley Turtle, and a few others that did not last more than a month. Today, I am Syda Renai, a kooky creative.

All the while, I have enjoyed delving into the digital world. It has become a very pleasurable experience, and I find myself playing there more and more while my acrylic paints dry out.

In July of 2023, I began to think about and reconsider everything regarding what I enjoyed doing and what materials I enjoyed using. What were my go-to mediums? What was I doing when I forgot to eat, shower, or cook dinner? What did I enjoy doing when I was young? From there, I purged my studio. I packed everything I wasn’t using and stored it in the garage. A few things have snuck their way back in. It’s a work in progress.

Home Life:

I live in Sacramento, CA, with my Ice Cream Man and a Yorkie we call Mister Deeks. I drink a.lot.of.coffee. I can’t smell, and I have no memory of ever being able to. I live with (and sometimes suffer from) anxiety & depression. I’m not particularly eager to cook. My favorite dessert is New York Style Cheesecake. I’ll eat bananas, but only while still a little green. I never go barefoot, and I can’t stand to hear anyone chewing. 🙂
